The US Embassy in Iraq has ordered all non-essential & non-emergency US Government personnel to immediately depart Iraq. It has also advised all United States citizens not to travel to Iraq, and if they are already in Iraq, to avoid all locations that are known American gathering points. The reason given is increased risk to American nationals, due to tensions with Iran. Whether the risk is from military action by Iranian proxy forces, or terrorist agents, is not specified.
