US SUPREME COURT TO EXAMINE NG LAP SENG CERTIORARI PETITION TO SEE WHETHER IT WARRANTS CONSIDERATION

The United States Supreme Court will distribute the Petition for a Writ of Certiorari during the week of June 25, 2020, in the criminal case against Chinese billionaire NG LAP SENG, convicted of bribing United Nations officials and diplomats. Seng waived the 14-day waiting period provided for by law, so as to more quickly give the Court a chance to consider whether to accept his case. Frankly, unless the Court finds that the issue is one of great public interest, the Court will not accept jurisdiction. The applicability of the Bribery Statute to organizations like the United Nations being already decided in the lower court proceedings, it is doubtful that Seng's case will be accepted.
