TRIAL OF FORMER BVI PREMIER SET FOR JULY 18 IN MIAMI

Readers who have been asking for an update on the American Federal money laundering case against former BVI Premier Andrew Fahie need wait no longer. The Court has set the case for trial on July 18, 2022.  It should not be a surprise, for there are Speedy Trial requirements in the Federal Rules. Also, the pressure of an upcoming trial date often accelerates the negotiation of a plea agreement by the defendant, lest they be required to prepared for a trial which they know has a very small change of  resulting in an acquittal.

When there is a hearing date set for a Change of Plea to guilty, we will know that a deal has been struck. that will take the case off the trial calendar. Fahie is rumoured to have already concluded his plea arrangement, and given sworn testimony against other East Caribbean leaders involved in corruption, narcotics trafficking and official corruption. The leaders implicated are said to be from both independent countries as well as overseas dependent territories of the United Kingdom and the United States.

We are monitoring the case, and shall update our readers on all developments, as they occur.
