Traffic on Interstate 75 in Atlanta was halted this week, after an unidentified fugitive money launderer threatened to commit suicide by jumping off an overpass above the busy highway, while trying to evade arrest by Federal law enforcement agent. The man, who was reportedly convicted in January of twelve counts of money laundering in US District Court (NDGA), fled after testifying at trial, and has been a fugitive from justice ever since.
The individual was part of a $30m fraud case involving 41 defendants, and he was reportedly the only one who declined to take a plea, forcing the government to take the case to trial. He allegedly formed a large number of shell companies in the State of Georgia, as part of an illicit operation to steal retirement plan assets. He was eventually taken into custody, once again demonstrating that you can run but, you cannot hide, from the wheels of justice.
