IOSIF GALEA'S SHORT 30 MONTH SENTENCE IN GERMANY INDICATES HIS VOLUNTARY COOPERATION AGAINST BIGGER TARGETS

A German court has sentenced former Maltese gaming regulator to a short sentence for Tax Evasion, which strongly indicates that he engaged in what authorities regarded as Substantial Assistance, meaning he cooperated, and gave evidence against, more prominent targets. Given that the maximum sentence for that crime in Germany is ten years' imprisonment, and that his case involved a facilitation of a serious violation, there is a presumption that he provided assistance against bigger fish, who are most likely prominent businessmen or government officials in Malta.

The case became a matter of great public interest when Galea was arrested , in Italy, in the company of former Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, who had resigned his office after he was linked to the assassination of investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. The fact that Galea had been allowed to repeatedly travel outside Malta, whilst under both Maltese and German arrest warrants, indicated that corrupt politicians in his home country had ensured that he was immune from arrest by local law enforcement.

Galea is reportedly presently an alleged career money launderer, who employs his gaming regulatory background and contacts to facilitate the cleaning of dirty money in Malta through online and brick-and-mortar gambling establishments. He is rumoured to number amongst his clientele Joseph and Michelle Muscat, along with many Labour Party ministers, past and present, and has a reputation as a "fixer" in Pl circles, using blackmail, extortion and other criminal acts to further serve his customers.

We do not know whom he has given evidence against, but the fact that there appears to be a news blackout regarding his sentence amongst local Media in Malta, confirms the sensitivity of information about Galea's cas. Malta's mainstream media self-censors negative information about any criminal matters involving the conduct of Labour leaders. we are currently seeking further details from our sources in Germany and the European Union; stay tuned.
