VULNERABILITY OF ONE MILLION PASSPORTS AND DRIVERS' LICENSES FOUND USING CLAUDE MEANS MULTIPLE IDS MUST NOW BE THE BENCHMARK FOR COMPLIANCE

Hackers using AI have discovered that close to one million passports and drivers' licenses, used to confirm identity of purchasers for cannabis, are easily accessed through Claude. One must now assume that hundreds of online businesses that require ID have inadequate protection of their customers' information, due to the ability of AI-powered platforms to penetrate their systems.

Compliance officers should take this as additional confirmation that, when completing Customer Identification Procedures, that one must require two government-issued photograph-bearing forms of identification, to rule out identity theft acquired by artificial intelligence means. I know this will result in major customer pushback, but do we really have a choice? Given that the stolen picture IDs are passports OR drivers' licenses, compliance officers should insist on having both.

As you know, the time in which compliance has the most leverage, and influence, over acquiring information is before the account is opened, and funds deposited, so insist on both early on, and disregard the protests of your New Accounts staff, because you will personally suffer the consequences if you give anyone a pass of producing both documents, and later things so south, regarding money laundering or fraud. Compliance officer: protect thyself in this age of AI.
