PRESSURE BUILDS FOR MALTA'S ATTORNEY GENERAL TO RESIGN FOR GIVING MONEY LAUNDERERS AT PILATUS BANK A PASS ON THE ORDERS OF CORRUPT FORMER PRIME MINISTER

Calls for the immediate resignation of Malta's Attorney General, VICTORIA BUTTIGIEG, have increased exponentially in the aftermath of the public release of the arrest warrants that were issued last year against ALI SADR HASHEMINEJAD, HAMID GHANBARI, MEHMET TASLI and LUIS RIVERA, but not served, reportedly at the order of the country's disgraced former Prime Minister, JOSEPH MUSCAT, who has allegedly received corrupt payments through Pilatus whilst in office.

Buttigieg, who was appointed by Joseph Muscat, had no experience whatsoever in criminal law at the time, and had a reputation as second-rate lawyer. She is totally beholden to Muscat for her position, and all her actions to date have obviously been to protect him and the members of his former government from criminal prosecution for money laundering in a number of major scandals, including but not limited to the Pilatus Bank case. Insiders advise that her appointment was engineered by the ruling Labour Party; her father was reportedly a big Mintoff admirer.

An anonymous whistleblower, an attorney who works inside the Attorney General's office, has gone public with a scathing critique of the AG's secret no-action decision on two of the five indicted Pilatus officials, stating that her action has disillusioned those in her staff who have faith in the Rule of Law. Whether we will now see widespread resignations in that office is a possibility not to be ignored.

If Buttigieg does leave office, it will; be up to Muscat's successor as PM, Robert Abela, who is himself now under the political microscope, due to his unexplained wealth, and his failure to charge Muscat and company with any of the money laundering and corruption scandals linked to Muscat's administration, so an honest AG is not expected to come on board.
