BILLION DOLLAR FRAUDSTER MEHUL CHOKSI TO BE EXTRADITED, AS BELGIUM'S COURT OF LAST RESORT, THE COURT OF CASSATION, REJECTS HIS APPEAL

MEHUL CHOKSI, who allegedly defrauded India's PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK out of close to the equivalent of two billion dollars, lost his appeal to Belgium's highest court, the Court of Cassation, which rejected his claims and affirmed the previous ruling of the Antwerp Court of Appeal. The court denied his claims of political motivation, and violent forcible removal from Antigua. Choksi must now face charges of embezzlement, forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy.

The Choksi case was a textbook example of how career criminals often use Citizenship by Investment (CBI/CIP) passports to evade justice; he had obtained an Antiguan passport whilst a known fraudster, and used the illegal cooperation of the leaders of Antigua to delay extradition from that Eastern Caribbean state for several years, with the alleged corrupt assistance of Antigua Prime Minister GASTON BROWNE, who took huge bribes to have the case delayed in the local courts, according to multiple sources inside Antigua.

Will Choksi now give evidence of systemic corruption in Antigua's Labour government, in an effort to reduce his ultimate sentence? Will PM Browne himself be charged? We cannot say, but we will be watching. India has been waiting for Choksi for years, and justice will be served.
