BVI PORTS DIRECTOR TO PLEAD GUILTY IN ANDREW FAHIE'S MONEY LAUNDERING NARCOTICS TRAFFICKING & RICO CASE IN MIAMI FEDERAL COURT

OLEANVINE MAYNARD, the Managing Director of the British Virgin Islands Port Authority, and the co-defendant of former BVI Premier ANDREW FAHIE, has agreed to change her plea to guilty in Fahie's Miami US District Court case. Maynard, who like Fahie had a count of Interstate & Foreign Travel in Aid of Racketeering added to money laundering and narcotics trafficking charges, joins her son, KADEEM MAYNARD, in entering a guilty plea.

Both Maynards remain in Pretrial Confinement since their arrest, while Fahie is under Home Confinement (House Arrest) at his two daughters' Miami apartment, awaiting a July trial, in which he is now the sole defendant who declined to enter a plea. It is expected that both of the Maynards will be testifying against Fahie, to add to the videos, voice recordings, and testimony of undercover American law enforcement officers. There is also another source, who recorded incriminating statements allegedly made by Fahie, whom his attorneys have asked the Court to compel the Government to identify.

As we get closer to the trial date, there will be increasing pressure on Fahie to plead out, to mitigate a potentially long sentence which could mean spending the rest of his lie in Federal Prison. Rumors have circulated, since Fahie's arrest, to the effect that he can incriminate not only other BVI officials in the corrupt facilitation of narcotics through BVI territorial waters, but that he has first-hand knowledge about the criminal activities of other senior East Caribbean officials, specifically in St. Kitts & Nevis, and Antigua and Barbuda.

Whether he can negotiate a short sentence with such information, given the extent of his guilt, we cannot say, but we understand his arrest sent shock waves through both the BVI and elsewhere in the region. How much does he know about corruption in the East Caribbean?
