MALTESE HACKER IN INTERNATIONAL MALWARE INVESTIGATION TO BE EXTRADITED TO UNITED STATES; OTHERS TO FOLLOW

DANIEL MELI, a citizen and resident of the Republic of Malta, has been arrested, and is scheduled to be extradited to the United States in connection with a major EUROPOL and American investigation into the sale and use of malware on the Internet. Meli, who is in custody in Malta, has waived extradition. There is an ongoing investigation into other targets in seven European countries, as well as in Africa, and Canada.

The illegal software, which is known as Remote Access Trojan, gives the users the ability to take over and control computers and servers. Our sources advise that Meli's case is an extradition trial run, being conducted to confirm that defendant will be  removed by the country's judiciary, which is known to be corrupt and subject to outside influence, before arrest warrants are issued against the major leaders in the RAT sales organization. We are not revealing their identities here , for fear they will flee to avoid American extradition and prosecution.
