WILL MALTA LOSE ITS VISA-FREE ACCESS TO THE UNITED KINGDOM AS THE RESULT OF THE NEW INVESTIGATION?

If you have read the recent articles about the initiation of an official investigation in the United Kingdom into whether national security threats to the United Kingdom may result in the cancellation of visa-free entry privileges, for some or all of the five East Caribbean States that sell Citizenship by Investment (CBI/CIP) passports, a recent interview by a Resident British High Commissioner assigned to one of those countries has revealed that other CBI passport-issuing countries are also under the microscope, which includes the Republic of Malta.

Malta's problems with corruption and rampant transnational money laundering, and the fact that Russian nationals have purchased a significant portion of the CBI passports sold by Malta under its IIM program, marks the country as a potential threat to the UK, which has imposed massive sanctions against Russia, Russian nationals, Russian businesses, and Russian Oligarchs. The Pilatus Bank London branch, and other Maltese financial crime schemes that have impacted the UK could result in Malta's loss of its visa-free status. we await the outcome of the British investigation
