AMERICA STRIKES BACK: CLOSES LOOPHOLE THAT ALLOWED DODGY CARIBBEAN CBI PASSPORT HOLDERS TO RESIDE IN THE U.S.

Today's good news is that the United States has made it a requirement for CBI passport holders from Grenada that they must first reside in their adopted country for a period of three years before becoming eligible to apply for an E-2 Investment Visa. Grenada is the only East Caribbean state whose passport holders have application rights, but 99% of those who purchase economic citizenship do not reside there. This action effectively closes that wide-open loophole, and it is anticipated to have a great impact upon future purchases of Grenada CBI citizenship & passports.

Whether the American action it was specifically directed at Russian organized crime figures, a number of whom have invested in Grenada, and purchased CBI passports, we cannot say, but it is suspected to be one of the reasons.

Grenada's new ( and greedy) government has projected that it will earn USD$240m in 2023 from its CBI program, but this new American action may make their passports far less attractive to buyers from high-risk jurisdictions.
