GUILTY PLEAS BY TWO VIRGIN ISLANDS AIRPORT STAFF ON COCAINE CHARGES FOCUS ATTENTION ON ANDREW FAHIE BVI CASE

Two individuals who work at a Virgin Islands airport have entered pleas of guilty to Federal charges of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine in US District Court in St. Thomas. Officer Wayne Jeffers and Charles Rawlins III face minimum prison terms of ten years on those charges.Twenty-six pounds of cocaine were confiscated.

The case has been cited in Caribbean media with reference to the pending case against ANDREW FAHIE, the former PM of the British Virgin Islands, and Oleanvine Pickering Maynard, a government official. Both defendants, and Maynard's son, face narcotics trafficking and money laundering charges in US District Court in Miami, and there are persistent rumors that Fahie is negotiating a plea agreement, wherein he will testify and give evidence against other East Caribbean leaders of whom he has first-hand knowledge of their involvement in facilitating drug trafficking into the United States by narcotics cartels.
