Kimberly Wendell Rothstein, the wife of convicted (and imprisoned) billion dollar Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein, has, through counsel, requested that her 22 October trial be delayed. Mrs Rothstein, and some of her associates, are charged with Money Laundering Conspiracy, Obstruction of Justice, and Witness Tampering.
The motion to continue the trial states that the defendant is seeking a "non-trial resolution in this case," which means a plea bargain, under most circumstances. Remember that a Criminal Information, not a Grand Jury Indictment, was filed in this action, which generally indicates that the defendant is, or will be, cooperating with law enforcement.
