News this week accuses the Israeli military of killing two individuals, identified as Al Jazeera journalists, in Gaza, but the truth of the incident appears to be extremely concerning; Also in the vehicle with them was a Hamas terrorist, actually operating a drone against the IDF, which was considered st the time to be enough of a direct threat that an IAF aircraft destroyed the auto, killing three of its passengers. Some observers have questioned the presence of Arab reporters, reportedly including individuals acting for Al Jazeera, on board the jeeps and motorcycles that attacked Southern Israel on October 7. Is this recent incident additional proof that the Qatar-based news agency has journalists embedded with Hamas? Can a news company, which is honor bound to be objective, work with a global terrorist organization under any circumstances? The IDF says the individual who was the son of a principal Al Jazeera journalist was a Hamas member from records seized in gaza.

We bring this up because compliance officers routinely draw upon global media when conducting due diligence inquiries and transaction monitoring. If Al Jazeera's take on who is engaged in terrorist financing, or money laundering, is possibly influenced by what appears to be a symbiotic relationship with hamas, how can they trust the content to be accurate and truthful? The answer is they cannot.
