When Lawrence Heath, one of the victims of the Cayman Gang of Four $450m scandal, first sought to locate his missing assets, he was told by Bateman Capital officers, specifically Sharon Lexa Lamb, and Fernando Moto Mendes, that his funds were with "Weiser." The full name of the company is Weiser Asset Management, Ltd., and it is located in the Bahamas. Mr. Heath has stated that he certainly did NOT give permission to anyone in control of his assets, which were supposed to be safe at the Bank of Butterfield (Cayman) Ltd., to send his money to the Bahamas.
Why did the money go there ? Ryan Bateman claims to have a fifteen-year background in oil exploration; there is no factual basis for his allegations. he has unsuccessfully attempted, as an agent, to broker oil deal throughout the Caribbean. He is presently engaged in business dispute, with certain American investors, where he asserts that he now owns and holds title to certain oil exploration leases, granted by the Government of the Bahamas; his claim is in dispute, and appear bogus. Bahamian opposition leasers have openly questioned the wisdom of working with Bateman, due to his dodgy background.
Nevertheless, did he transfer some of those millions, that he and the rest of the Gang of Four stole, to the Bahamas, for the purpose of funding his oil projects ? Remember, he is also linked to the Government of Cuba, which is also seeking to tap into the anticipated oil deposits lying within its national waters. Exactly where Bateman figures in the Cuban projects is not known, but it is suspected that he is involved in that venture as well, and such project require many millions of dollars, for equipment, staff, and materials.
